My Budding Artist

A gallery of selected works from my daughter, starting at age 3 and a half (and now almost 6). With an occasional guest appearance from her younger brother (now 4).

It's like preschool...on TV

Created December 18, 2007

So, this is a little out of order with the rest of the Budding Artist's art, but I wanted to get it scanned in saved before it potentially disappeared.

For those who are Noggin-impaired, Noggin is a cable channel that is run by Nickelodeon. You can see their overly abundant flash-tastic (sarcasm inserted) site here, assuming you have a ridiculously fast computer and fast internet connection that only NASA could possibly have.

Anyway, the station features a lineup of their pre-school/young kids animated shows in a commercial-free format. However, since all shows are designed to have about 12 minutes of commercial airspace in them, this leaves a huge chunk of airspace in between shows. So what do you do with that air time?

Well, you hawk your own shows, you play kid friendly music videos, and you create a lovable cartoon host. Or in this case, two of them; Moose E. Moose and Zee the bird.

And that is the two characters drawn by the Budding Artist in the artwork off to the side here. Free-hand. With no style guide or helper artwork to guide her along or copy from. (Moose E. Moose is the moose-like thing on the bottom). Rather impressive!

Apparently in one of the little vignettes, Moose E. Moose is looking for candy canes or something. So that's what they are holding.

For comparison sake, here are the two hosts of the channel.

Moose E. Moose would be proud!
